Anthony Veder - a specialist in gas carriers since 1969
The Anthony Veder Group was founded in 1937 as a shipowner and port agent. Before its gas-carrying days, Anthony Veder was perhaps most famous for running the liner service, "Oranje Lijn".

- Oranje Lijn was a freight and passenger service operating between Rotterdam and the Great Lakes in Canada and the US. All of its vessels were named after the Royal family (www.oranjelijn.nl)
- During 1940-1945 most of the vessels were unfortunately lost during the war. But after the war the company managed to build up its fleet pretty quickly again and Oranje Lijn was used by many Dutch emigrants to make the move to a new life in Canada.
- The Oranje Lijn was sold in the late 50s due to competition from the airlines.
- Anthony Veder then took a slightly different path and diversified into reefers and other activities. And then in 1968, a major milestone was reached when it ordered its first gas tanker.
- Originally, the Netherlands Antillian subsidiary owned the gas fleet and therefore, the first vessels were named after corals found in the Caribbean Sea. The Coral naming tradition continues today.
- Anthony Veder continues to expand its gas tanker fleet during the 70s and 80s. This includes the company's first-ever ethylene carrier that joined the fleet in 1989. Investment also continued in the reefer and container business.
- In 1991 the Veder family sold the business to shipping-related investors and HAL Investments became the largest shareholder.
- And then in 1994, the Anthony Veder we know today took shape. It was back to the core business, with a full focus on gas shipping.
- Five newbuilding gas tankers were ordered in China and several second-hand purchases led to a rapid expansion of the fleet.
- 1999 saw the delivery of the world's first purpose-built CO2 tanker.
- And some years later, Anthony Veder ordered the first combined LNG/LPC/E carrier in 2006.
